The Avenue Lounge & SOS Rock Form Partnership to Bring Music to the Masses
In the works for the past three months, The Avenue Lounge has partnered with SOS Rock to fill what they believe is a void in the local music scene: the availability of free shows in a great venue south of the river.  Music lovers have long had the opportunity to see their favorite bands and meet brand new acts each week in venues around the greater Cincinnati area, but only a select few venues offer the combination of local, original music without a cover charge.  Now, The Avenue Lounge can be added to the short list.

So far in this venture, The Avenue has hosted some of the region’s most popular acts including: The Dukes Are Dead, Skeleton Hands, The Harlequins, Oso Bear and Kry Kids to name a few.  On Fridays and Saturdays, audiences have the chance to see these bands and many more in a recently-renovated venue that was formally the location of one of the region’s seediest strip clubs: The Pad.  While The Avenue still boasts a sign on the wall and a dance pole for show, you won’t find any other remnants of its past.  During happy hour The Avenue plays host to local professionals and artists mixed together enjoying craft cocktails and signature martinis.  But the crowd changes on weekend nights as music lovers flock down to see what bands SOS Rock has lined up.

It is our hope at The Avenue that more people will learn about our entertainment offerings and continue to support our venue and the acts we have in store for them.  In light of the recent and sad announcement about Southgate House, we are confident we can help fill the void.

Halloween Night 10.31.11

Halloween is fast approaching and we’re doing something a little bit different this year: Combining 3 great local bands with some costume karaoke! Eight years in the making the Dress up and Drown/ Dress up and Dance annual Halloween event has made its way across venues in Northern Kentucky. What started off as a venture on Queen City Riverboats has manifested on land, and is making its way to The Avenue Lounge. Featuring local music hosted by Sweet Ray Laurel, Shoot Out The Lights, Hot For Alice, and costume karaoke by DJ Will Corson. This party is considered a must stop for post trick or treating night life.

SCAR Project Afterparty

SCAR Project Cincinnati

Date: Saturday, October 1st, 2011
Time: 7:00pm

The SCAR Project is a series of large-scale portraits of young breast cancer survivors shot by fashion photographer David Jay. Primarily an awareness raising campaign, The SCAR Project puts a raw, unflinching face on early onset breast cancer while paying tribute to the courage and spirit of so many brave young women.

Dedicated to the more than 10,000 women under the age of 40 who will be diagnosed this year alone The SCAR Project is an exercise in awareness, hope, reflection and healing. The mission is three-fold: Raise public consciousness of early-onset breast cancer, raise funds for breast cancer research/outreach programs and help young survivors see their scars, faces, figures and experiences through a new, honest and ultimately empowering lens.

On Saturday October 1st beginning at 7pm, The Avenue Lounge will host the afterparty for this powerful exhibition.  Entertainment will be provided by Indiana-based indie/folk band: Yearbook Committee.  Half price wine specials will be included for all SCAR Project Cincinnati attendees, with a $3 donation as admission collected at the door. All proceeds will benefit The SCAR Project.
